Beep.

Everything was black, except for what Lily could make out as a faint steady beeping noise, and quiet mumble of a small group of people. The Beeping and the mumbling were gradually getting louder. She thought that this was a strange dream, as everything was black, like she had her eyes closed. The noises were more clear now, the quiet mumble was in fact at a normal pitch and only one person was talking, with the occasional reply and a few time she heard the noise if metal scaping against each other.
She felt something tingle painfully in her left leg just below the knee. Instinctively she tried to pull her leg away. Her whole body started to tingle, not in the same sharp painful way as her left leg, but like when blood is oozing its way back into your foot, leg or arm after it has been numb for a while.
The steady beep… beep… beep, quickened for half a heartbeat, but returned to its normal pace.
Lily could now feel that she was lying on some kind of slightly squishy bead with cool plastic covers over most of her body.
Suddenly her left leg was on fire. She felt something scrape against her flesh, it was as cold as ice but it didn't numb the pain. The beeping noise was now starting to beep quite franticly now, as if it was having a panic attack. The voices around her now were getting frantic. She could hear someone rustling around. The pain was getting worse and worse and worse. Why wasn't anyone helping her? She needed to scream out in pain, but she couldn't find her voice. The beeping was still getting faster and faster.
Suddenly the pain in her leg ski-rocketed, as the cold thing scaping at her flesh scaped against her bone. Lily's eye's flew open and let out a gasp in pain. Cold sweat was dripping down her face. All she could see was a big bright light above her. She felt the thing scrape against her bone again, this time it was harder. This time the pain was blinding, it surged through her whole body. She let out a pained quiet scream. Right at that moment everything went quiet, except for the panicky beeping and Lilly's sobs, for what felt like hours. Suddenly there was fanatic movement in the room. A lady appeared over her. Her hair was covered by what looked like a shower cap and she was wearing a face mask over her nose and mouth. The lady pushed something over her nose and mouth, holding it there.
"Sssh, take deep breaths  love" The lady said, running her hand over Lily's hair.
As Lily did so the pain started to ebb away and her eyes started to droop as she slipped back into darkness.
